Charles Phillips (businessman)

Charles Phillips is President of Oracle Corporation and a member of the company's Board of Directors.
Phillips was born in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Phillips' responsibilities encompass global field operations including consulting, marketing, sales, alliances and channels, and customer programs, as well as corporate strategy. He has played an instrumental role negotiating several Oracle acquisitions and for consolidating acquired companies into Oracle's core business. These include the acquisitions of Peoplesoft, Siebel Systems, Retek, Hyperion and the newly announced all-cash offer for BEA Systems.
Prior to joining Oracle, Phillips was a Managing Director with Morgan Stanley in its technology group - where he was considered to be one of Wall Street's most technically savvy and hardworking analysts covering the software sector. Oracle was among the many companies he was responsible for following. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Chuck Phillips was a software industry analyst at Kidder Peabody and SoundView Technology Group (both now defunct). Prior to his career on Wall Street, Phillips was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Phillips holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy, an MBA from Hampton University, and a JD from New York Law School and is a member of the bar in Washington D.C. and Georgia. Phillips is on the boards of Oracle, Viacom, Morgan Stanley, Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, and New York Law School.
