Chaoyang Park

Chaoyang Park (Chinese: 朝阳公园; pinyin: Cháoyáng Gōngyuán; also called 北京朝阳公园; pinyin: Běijīng Cháoyáng Gōngyuán) is a park located of the site of the former Prince's Palace in the Chaoyang District of northeastern Beijing, China.
The park's construction began in 1984. It is approximately 2.8 km in length and approximately 1.5 km in width, with a total area of 288.7 hectares, and a water surface area of 68.2 hectares; 87% of which is green space.

Since 2005, the Beijing Pop Festival has been held at Chaoyang Park each September.
A temporary beach volleyball stadium is being constructed here to host the Beach Volleyball events of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Chaoyang Park is currently constructing an observation wheel that when finished will reach 208 meters (to compare with London Eye's 136 meters). Construction will finish in 2009.
