Casino Magic Biloxi Casino & Hotel was a 50,000-square-foot (5,000 m²) [1] permanently moored casino barge located on Casino Row, along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Mississippi with an adjoining 378 room hotel located on 16 acres of land.[1][2] The property is now owned by Harrah's Entertainment.
[edit] History
The 378 room Casino Magic Hotel was added on May 1, 1998.[3]
The casino was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. [2]
Following Pinnacle Entertainment's acquisition of a Lake Charles casino from Harrah's Entertainment, which was damaged in 2005, it announced plans on June 20, 2006 to invest $350 million to construct Sugarcane Bay with an anticipated opening date in 2009. Harrah's received the site of the former Casino Magic Biloxi Casino & Hotel in exchange for the Lake Charles property and has announced plans to build the Margaritaville Casino and Resort on this and an adjoining property that it owned.
