Casalgrande is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 50 km west of Bologna and about 15 km southeast of Reggio Emilia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 15,933 and an area of 37.7 km².[1]
The municipality of Casalgrande contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Ca' dei Galliani, Ca'Medici, Ca'Valentini, Casa di Riposo, Castello Casalgrande, Osteria Vecchia, Salvaterra, San Donnino di Liguria, Veggia, and Villalunga.
Casalgrande borders the following municipalities: Castellarano, Formigine, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Rubiera, Sassuolo, Scandiano.
