this has an npov tag on the front page, but there's nothing anywhere saying why.

Thats because it views Chisholm in an enlightening way and makes her like a story character. She maybe did have the character of a story heroine but she isn't one.

(By the way, I did not write either of the preceding comments.) I just reinstated the NPOV-check because it appears that the article POV/voice is still that of a person who is very much in awe of the subject. The POV doesn't appear to reflect more current scholarship and consensus about Caroline Chisholm. As it is, the article reads like a children's storybook -- very sentimental and nostalgic in tone ("auburn hair," etc.), not to mention wholly uncritical of the subject (critical in the scholarly sense, of course). —Iguana Scales 16:07, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Just a drive-by comment (I came upon this by way of "Random Article"): The emotional and subjective language should be eliminated. Her emotional reactions -- "devastated by what she saw," "felt their pain," etc. -- aren't relevant to this type of article. What she did is. References to her first name should be changed to her last name. Even if anyone editing this article knew her -- a good trick, since she died in 1877 -- the tone should be formal, not familiar.
