Carmooyin is the third largest city of the Bari region of Somalia, located 98km south of Bosaso.
Carmooyin is a rapidly growing city, founded in 1995, and is the only planned city in Somalia.[citation needed] It is the most recently founded city of the break-away Puntland area. The present Mayor of Carmooyin is H. E. Mr. Awad Husien Ali.
Carmooyin is home to the Carmooyin Police Academy of the Somali Police. This Academy is the largest in Somalia, and trains more than 200 police officers per month from all parts of Somalia.
