Cardiapoda placenta, or flat cardiapod, is a rare pelagic gastropod mollusc in the family Carinariidae, found worldwide in warm seas between latitudes 40° North and 40° South at depths of up to 650 m.
The animal resembles that of Carinaria but is of much smaller size, and with only a minute shell, attached or immersed, at the ventral extremity of the visceral nucleus.
