The lowest point is 1 m near Puy-du-Lac, the highest point is at Nachamps at 66 m, the average or the centre is 22 m. The least populated commune is Tonnay-Boutonne with 1,126 inhabitants and the most populated commune is Saint-Laurent-de-la-Barrière with 73. The second mostly populated commune is Puy-de-Lac with 280, four to five times more than the canton's chief town.
