Cand.mag.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Candidatus magisterii (male), Candidata magisterii (female), abbreviated cand.mag. is an academic degree used in Denmark and Norway.
It was one the degrees that was awarded by universities in Norway and Denmark before the provisions of the Bologna process were implemented. The cand.mag. degree was the first degree awarded, and required three and a half years (faculties of mathematics and natural sciences) to four years (faculties of arts and social sciences) to complete. As a result of implementing the Bologna process, it was replaced by the Bachelor's degree, which requires three years to complete.
It is not to be confused with the magister degree (magister artium or magister scientarium), a degree requiring 7 years of studies with heavy emphasis on the scientific thesis, and which approximates a PhD degree.
