Campton Township is located in Kane County, Illinois at 41.935643 N, -88.432459 W. It is a 6-mile (10 km) square, of which 34.527838 square miles are land and 0.117753 are water. Its population in the 2000 Census was 14,072. It has 4,417 housing units.

The township's rural character is subject to increased development. Following an annexation by Elgin, Illinois of northern land for high density development, residents have been seeking to incorporate much of the unincorporated areas of the township into a new Village of Campton Hills. As of May 2007, most of the township has been incorporated into a village.
