Aurora Township is located in Kane County, Illinois, at 41.761529 N, -88.318435 W. It is a 6 mile square, of which 34.636579 square miles are land and 0.6651399 are water. It is divided by the Fox River. Its population in the 2000 Census was 115,553, the largest in the county. It has 38,755 housing units.
Most of the township is incorporated in the City of Aurora. It also includes North Aurora and Montgomery.

The Town Hall is located at 80 N. Broadway, Aurora, Illinois. The Township is lead by an elected Supervisor and four Trustees. An Assessor, Clerk and Highway Commissioner are also elected.
The township is responsible for road maintenance, staffing a Youth and Community Center, and operating a handicapped accessible Dial-A-Ride transportation system.
