[edit] League Table Performance
In the year 2007, the school had 52% of its pupils achieve 5 A*-C grades at GCSE against a national average of 46.7% and a county average of 42.3%. This places it 14th out of 43 schools in Northamptonshire at GCSE level. In the same year, the school gained 884.2 out of 1323.5 possible QCA points. This places it 5th out of 43 schools in Northamptonshire at AS/A2 level. The school has a 1.2% unauthorised absence rate (generally either truancy or holidays taken in term time which have not been agreed with the school), which is lower than the national and local averages of 1.4% and 1.6% respectively. The school had an OFSTED inspection under the current headmaster in early 2008. The results were published on 4th March 2008[1]. The report concluded that "Achievement in the main school is inadequate overall; students do not make sufficient progress. In the sixth form, it is outstanding".
[edit] Campion Radio
Campion School had a school radio which was hosted by students. It was purportedly a pre-chosen play list played on loudspeakers in the school's main hall, with the occasional interjection from students. More recently certain students have started playing music at lunchtimes over the hall's speaker system with the consent of the school teachers. Marcus Spencer-Brown and Divesh Patel both said in February 2008 that it was "rubbish".
[edit] The Citrix Network
In 2004 Campion School installed a brand new network system based around a Citrix MetaFrame network and using Microsoft-based software solutions. The school offers a wireless network throughout the premises, and this is used by staff who have access to personal laptops, and by the rest of the student body through the Apple iBooks kept in most departments. The school network can also be accessed by students from home, through the Campion School website, which can be very beneficial, especially when keeping to deadlines.
[edit] MySpace Community
Campion School has a MySpace School Community, for alumni and current students. It leads an active discussion board and is moderated by a current student of the school. Campion students talk about the school, what can be done to improve it and what they do or don't like.
[edit] Catchment area
The following are among the school's catchment area:
The Northamptonshire County Council provides free transport for students in catchment areas up to the statutory leaving age of 16. Those over the statutory leaving age or under that age but outside the village must either pay for this service or use their own transport. The only transport available through the school for those not in the catchment area is the Duston and Hunsbury bus, which students must pay for each term. Parking in and around the school can be a problem as a result.
