[edit] Gay rights in New Zealand
Could you please add a citation for the sentence you added to this article about gay sperm and blood donor policies being changed. Also, the sentence about possible restrictions on use of sperm is speculation and should be removed.-gadfium 04:49, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Got your message. I've added a link to Gaynz.Com, specifically its news page. If the item about policy reforms isn't there on the righthand side, try the search engine. There's also a current article about the remarks one straight NZ geneticist made about 'gay sperm' in the features section. [User: Calibanu] 22 March 2006
[edit] Patricia Bartlett
Excellent work on the Patricia Bartlett article. You'll see I renamed it and added links to other articles to conform to Wikipedia standards, but you did all the hard work.-gadfium 05:21, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Tah. Incidentally, Wikipedia does have a page on the Society for Promotion of Community Standards, so you might want to link to it. [User: Calibanu] 22 March 2006.
- Great. I've created a redirect from Society for Promotion of Community Standards to Society for the Promotion of Community Standards and listed it on Wikipedia:New articles (New Zealand) where it might draw some attention.-gadfium 09:31, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Editing help
Your question at Talk:Gay rights in New Zealand leads me to wonder if you've been given links on how to edit Wikipedia. You could easily have added that link yourself - more easily than asking someone else to do it. Also, I see you signing posts on talk pages manually instead of automatically. I suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Tutorial which will teach you about formatting text and how to add links, and also look at Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. If you want to ask me about any aspects of editing, my talk page is only a click away.-gadfium 05:32, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bruce Logan
Just started article on this NZ conservative Christian political activist, and will return tomorrow with book references from the National Library of NZ.
User Calibanu 14:20, 31 March 2006
- You can create your own articles. Only anonymous editors are prevented from creating articles. You can create a new article in one of two ways:
- type the name of the article into the search field on any Wikipedia page. The Search results will say: No page with that title exists. You can create this article or request it. Just click on the "create this article" link.
- create a link to the article you want to make, perhaps on this talk page, and then click it to create the article. For example, [[Bruce Logan]] will create a link to Bruce Logan, which is currently a red link but will turn blue once you add some content to it.-gadfium 05:48, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

- Many thanks, Gadfium. Article now completed, and ready for consultation. Hopefully
- I've moved it to Bruce Logan.-gadfium 03:53, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Connie Purdue
New article up about New Zealand feminist, trade unionist, ex-communist and Labour Party activist Connie Purdue (nee Soljak). Any comments?
User Calibanu 11:06, 5 April 2006
- I've moved it to Connie Purdue. Keep up the good work; I've been somewhat snowed under with university work for the last couple of weeks and so haven't followed up your articles much, but you're documenting vital pieces of New Zealand history.-gadfium 08:47, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Miriam Soljak
Just found something on Connie's mum, Miriam Soljak, in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography. Will write a bio for her ASAP.- User: Calibanu, 11:28, 15 April 2006.
Article now completed. Have amended Connie Purdue bio accordingly, given background information about her mother. User: Calibanu, 13:44, 18 April 2006.
[edit] Biographical references
I noticed that John Banks (New Zealand), Graeme Lee, Don Brash, Helen Clark and Peter Dunne lacked biographical references for their entries, and have edited those entries to include them. Can anyone think of additional New Zealand political figures that could do with the same treatment? And should one add caveats about whether those biographies are critical or celebratory in content, or where no balancing biographies exist on either perspective? Banks does have balancing biographies, but none of the others currently do, from a critical perspective.
User Calibanu 14:41, 09 April 2006
[edit] Keith Hay
New biographical entry, refers to Auckland local body politician and social conservative activist Keith Hay. Any comments?
User Calibanu 14:53, 11 April 2006
[edit] Sir (Alfred) William Liley
New biographical entry, refers to pioneering fetal surgeon Sir (Alfred) William Liley(1929-1983). I've tried to make it as NPOV as possible, as can be seen from the commentary and bibliography section at the base of the entry. Any comments?
User Calibanu 12:36, 12 April 2006
[edit] Graeme Lee
Amended bibliographic entry. The new reference serves as the basis for Bassett's comments about Lee's effectiveness as Minister of Internal Affairs in the main body of the article
User Calibanu 10:54, 19 April 2006
[edit] Alice Bush
Further new bibliographical entry- Dr Alice Bush(1914-1974), pioneering New Zealand female doctor, family planning activist and one of the founders of the Pediatric Society of New Zealand.
User Calibanu 14:17, 19 April 2006
[edit] Killer Nun
For something completely different, I've added some filmographic details of this nunsploitation shocker from the seventies.
User Calibanu 20 April 2006
[edit] Gay Adoption
I have now incorporated Metiria Turei's recent media release and an URL into the GRiNZ page. At some point, I'll add references to New Zealand Ministry of Justice Law Comission Reports and white papers to supplement it.

[edit] Necedah Shrine
Thanks for expanding the Necedah Shrine article. I started the article, bur before, I registered with Wikipedia.RFD 11:38, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! On the Necedah Shrine, the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in La Crosse, Wisconsin was founded by Archbishop Raymond Leo Burke as a Diocesan Marian Shrine. Bishop Burke promise the people connected with the Necedah Shrine that he would set up a diocesan Marian shrine to replace the one in Necedah. Therefore, the Necedah and Guadalupe shrines are interconnected somewhat. As you can tell Bishop Burke is very controversial and the founding and construction of the Guadalupe Shrine has been controversial. Some important information to pass along. Thank you-RFD 13:03, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Messiah/Mahdi References
Okay. I've incorporated bibliographies into the Mahdi,Jewish Messiah claimants,Isaac Luria, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Messiah and Sabbatai Sevi entries. Any comments? I would welcome additions to these references, which are not intended as comprehensive. See also new entry for Catholic Fatima pietist Father Nicholas Gruner and the Necedah Shrine, an alleged Wisconsin Marian apparition.

Many thanks for your work on the Necedah Shrine article. We need to encourage one other. Again, my thanks and appreciation.RFD 16:38, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine
Hi! Let me check the archives at the La Crosse Public Library. It is known that when he took over the Diocese of La Crosse, one of Bishop Raymond Leo Burke's top priorities was an establishment of a Doiceaan Marian Shrine to replace the Necedah Shrine. It will take a liitle for myself to check the archives out.ThanksRFD 10:59, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A.N. Field & GK Chesterton
Hi Calibanu: I was wondering if you might take a look at the A.N. Field article. I wrote an objection to the view of GKC as a strict anti-semite. That might be a bit strong. Check out the Chesterton page for a further explanation. After you take a look, let me know what you think... V. Joe 04:03, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I ask the individual who change the Veronica Leuken article to put any proposed changes on the discussion section. I am not sure if this will help. [edit] Destiny NZ
Any official word that they've given up? Perhaps we should wait untill they officially deregister? Mattlore 05:17, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Their website hasn't been updated for almost a year, nor have they issued any media releases. Moreover, to concede that they've failed would be to lose mana. Nope, I think they're delaying it for as long as possible, but they do seem inoperative. For example, look at Lewis' new job title. Doesn't mention DNZ.
User: Calibanu 12.19, 19 August 2006
Just wouldn't be surprised to see a party like DNZ spring up again a in 2008 though thats all, they set themselves up pretty quick for 2005 didn't they? Anyway I guess we can update it if that happens so I'm not going to change it or anything. Mattlore 05:02, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lionel Terry
You might like to see a comment an anon left on my talk page archive, at User_talk:Gadfium/archive15#A.N.Field. I don't plan to follow it up any further.- gadfium 01:18, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
HI my father is in possession of an original Lionel Terry diary that he used while in institutions to jot down his thoughts, drawings, poems etc. Dad is thinking of selling it on ebay. Could it be of any use to you. I don't know how to work this editing thing but my email is brownies3@xtra.co.nz Are you allowed to put email addresses on? Cheers.
[edit] Some of your recent edits
Hi there Calibanu - I hope you're having a great day :)
Your recent edits ([1] and [2] and [3]) surprised me a little. Those edits (e.g. implying that a certain group doesn't understand copyright law, or will rely on skewed evidence) are all slightly controversial things to say, but are unsupported by references and seems a little bit like weasel words to me. I'm quite sure that's not the impression that you intended, but it would be much better to reference an individual or study supporting the statements you added.
I have also noticed that you don't use edit summaries. These are highly recommended and are a real help to let other editors know what changes you are making.
Here is a suggested reading list of Wikipedia policy that I have prepared for you:
- Neutral point of view
- No original research
- Cite your sources
- Leave an edit summary
- Avoid weasel words
Please don't take this criticism personally! I'm just writing because you are an intelligent and dedicated editor, and I want to give some friendly, constructive advice about Wikipedia "best practice guidelines". (And don't worry, I have broken these guidelines myself quite frequently :) ) Cheers!! -- FP (talk)(edits) 11:13, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Katherine Rich
Shouldn't the list place shown be the place at the time of the relevant election, not her current ranking?-gadfium 03:49, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
But if it's not the contemporary ranking, then Don Brash and John Key are both listed as No 1 on National's list rankings. No, I'd go with current list rankings. On that basis, she is indeed Number 8. [[User: Calibany] 13.29, 4 December 2006
- No, John Key was seventh on the party list at the time of the last election.
- Perhaps we should leave the table line for 48th Parliament with the ranking they had at the time of the election, and add a new line of "current ranking".-gadfium 00:57, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Alternatively, we could note details about the prior caucus rankings within the text, and amend the 48th Parliament table line. eg: previously ranked X, but was promoted/demoted to Y after John Key became new Leader of the Opposition (text). Unneccessarily complicated, otherwise. User: Calibanu 13.59, 4 December 2006

I see you've put references as [http://www.stuff.co.nz] and similar. This will not help readers who go to these sites in a few weeks or months, when the anti-smacking bill is no longer front page news. Please add the full url, eg [http://www.stuff.co.nz/3992812a10.html].-gadfium 07:14, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RPCA?
Just curious: what is your source for the reformationsociety being connected to the RPCA? I can't find any reference to such on the RPCA website, and I've never heard anything of such; I've known the Ed Blackwood on the RPCA article since I was a little child, but I've not heard anything from him. Just because a church claims the name and doctrines of the old Scots Covenanters doesn't mean that it's connected to the RPCA or its sister denominations; the Reformed Presbyterian Church page lists several denominations that also claim the same doctrines and name as we do, but aren't connected to us. Nyttend 23:15, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Some time ago, Garnet Milne of the Reformation Testimony website announced that he had shifted allegiance from the Reformed Churches of New Zealand to the Reformed Presbyterian Church. I was puzzled at this, because, as you have noted beforehand, there is no Reformed Presbyterian Church of New Zealand (although as you can see from the Reformation Testimony website's confessional section, he clearly defines himself as a Reformed Presbyterian at present. Therefore, I assumed that he was some sort of outlying remote adherent of the RPC Australia. I can now see that this might not be the case. Thank you for your clarification. I will cease modifying the RPC Australia entry, given that. User Calibanu: 11.14, 26 June 2007
- That link helps. I think I know pretty much every person in the RPCA, and if they were associated with us, I'm pretty sure I would've heard about it. However, just for clarification, I've dropped an e-mail to one of our theological professors; we'll see what response we get. Also, I've listed them on the disambig page that Nyttend mentioned.
- -- TimNelson 04:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I've gotten confirmation. He's not associated with the Reformed Presbyterian denominational group. -- TimNelson 06:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits
Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button
located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 23:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
