Calhetinha

Calhetina (from Portuguese calheta and -inha meaning little, Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Kadjetinha, São Vicente Crioulo: Kalhetinha) is a bay located northeast of the island of Sal. The bay runs from Pedra de Lume's nearest promontory up to the island's northeasternmost point.

Its length runs approximately 4 km from north to south and is about 600 to 800 m wide. Two mountains covers the bay, one in the southwest and another named Monte Grande to the northwest, the flat desert terrain containing traces of bushes surround the rest of the bay's length. Its minimum depth is around 100 m.
