I dispute this.

A trained solo diver, or solo diving in certain situations is actually safer than typical buddy diving


I removed the following:

  • In American teenage street lingo, the buddy system refers to coded question Hey, you got any bud? to strangers, ostensibly asking for Budweiser beer when questioned by authority figures, but implying cannabis to others.

Unless a reference can be produced, I believe this to be a hoax, based on this Slashdot post. AxelBoldt 16:46, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

The buddy system is also used by mean YMCA camp counselors to keep kids out of the pool during hot weather
