[edit] Contradictory information

At the start of the article it says "Taiwan's population is 95.5% Buddhist as of 2006". Later in the article it says "Taiwan's Buddhist population grew from 800,000 in 1983 to 4.9 million in 1995". I think the initial claim cannot be true or at least needs a credible source. It is difficult to quantify the exact percentage of people in Taiwan that belong to any kind of religion as most people's beliefs are syncretic and they could rightly claim to belong to more than one kind of religion. [edit] Incorrect information

"a considerable portion of the population has spent time as Buddhist monks and nuns" This is simply incorrect. Taiwanese culture, as a result of its Confucian roots, simply doesn't encourage people to enter monastic life. The percentage of monks and nuns is quite small relative to the overall population. Also it is not common for people to take temporary ordination in Taiwan, unlike Thailand. Davidreid 01:15, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Why are they scandals and controversies, without any discussion on them. It should atleast be talked about otherwise it is needless criticism.
