Brampton GO Station is a GO Transit railway station on the Georgetown line, located at 27 Church Street West in downtown Brampton.
Like many other stations on the GO train network, Brampton is equipped with parking facilities, wheelchair-accessible train service, a station building housing a waiting room and ticket sales, a Ticket Vending Machine (TVM), and a nearby bus terminal.
GO shares this station with VIA Rail, Canada's national passenger railway. VIA runs trains westward to Guelph, Kitchener, Stratford, London, and Sarnia, and east to Toronto's Union Station, connecting with the other Quebec City-Windsor Corridor services.
Near the train station, accessible by passenger tunnel, is the Downtown Brampton Bus Terminal, from which GO buses run to and from the Yorkdale and York Mills stations in Toronto, Orangeville, and Guelph, along with local Brampton Transit, and Intercity Greyhound Bus Lines.
As GO Transit's ridership is growing, the station's current parking lot is already operating over its designed capacity, and cannot be extended because of its downtown location. A new Mount Pleasant station opened in early 2005 to take some of the pressure off this station.
There have been many requests for the all-day train service to Brampton Station, but heavy CN freight traffic and VIA Rail trains on the same tracks make it impossible at present; there are some off-peak trains travelling from Toronto's Union Station to the nearby Bramalea Station. An environmental assessment is nearing completion to add an additional track through Brampton and a new south platform would accommodate additional trains beyond Bramalea.
