Bowes Park is situated on the borders of Wood Green, Palmers Green and Bounds Green in London, England. The postcode for Bowes Park is N22. The border between the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey goes through the area.
Bowes Park is well connected by public transport, having its own Bowes Park railway station, which is on the Hertford Loop Line from Hertford to Central London terminating at either Moorgate or Kings Cross which is located approximately five miles south. The station is managed by First Capital Connect, who also operates the trains that stop at the station. Bounds Green tube station is located close by, and there are also good bus services from both Green Lanes and the Bounds Green crossroads.
Bowes Park is a small community dominated by Myddleton Road which houses a number of shops. In years gone by the road was alive with shops of all kinds including butchers, bakers, tea rooms, and greengrocers, as well as many other types of shops. Nowadays people commute the small distance to Wood Green to go shopping. The shops in Myddleton Road featured in the first episode of the 1999 Channel 4 sitcom Spaced. The road is named after Sir Hugh Myddelton, constructor of the New River, which passes through Bowes Park and under the road itself.
The central drinking establishment for Bowes Park is Doyle's of Bounds Green (formerly Henley's Bar), located at 101 Myddleton Road. Doyle's is a small and friendly free house, with Irish connections.
