[edit] Facilities
The station is located between Erica Avenue and Lupton Way, with platform access from both. Boronia Junction shopping centre is located near the station.
The station consists of an island platform located in a cutting, with a small railway tunnel located at the down end of the station passing under Boronia Junction. The platform contains a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room inside and a concourse above it, with a ticket office inside. A large Metcard machine is located next to the ticket office, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. Lifts and stairs provide access to the platforms.
[edit] History
Boronia station originally opened on Saturday, 19 June 1920. The station has been rebuilt many times due to traffic congestion and level crossing accidents on Boronia Road (situated on the down end).[citation needed] In 1998 Boronia station was lowered underneath Boronia Road.
