[edit] Woolworth aircraft carriers

I was looking through old news archives for some details, costs etc, but so far I've come up empty. Using HMS Battler as a search term pulls up a bunch of articles around May 19, 1943 based on a United Press article. They talk about freighters converted into aircraft carriers which are exemplified by the Battler. Many of the articles say they were known as "Woolworth" carriers, for their five-and-dime low cost. --Dual Freq (talk) 00:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
