Blue book exam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A blue book exam is a type of test administered at many US post-secondary schools, where a professor gives an essay topic, which the student must write about during the exam period. Generally, the teacher will give advance warning on the possible essay topics and will then choose one, or let the student choose from the available ones on which topic to write about. Blue books typically contain several sheets of wide-ruled notebook paper and have the words "Blue Book" across the front. The books are named for the blue color of their cover, however, the books' covers do not necessarily have to be blue; some schools use pink, yellow, or white covered exam books.[citation needed]
There are also a "Green Book" alternative that is put in use by some schools. The green book is an environmentally friendly, 100% Recycled Paper version of the classic blue book.[1]
