The Black Sturgeon River is a river in the Thunder Bay District of northwestern Ontario located west of Lake Nipigon. It flows from Black Sturgeon Lake to empty into Black Bay on Lake Superior. The river valley follows a major fault line in the area which runs north-south. The valley also contains sills with columnar jointing which are related to the Midcontinent Rift System.
