[edit] Biography
Big Tuck grew up in South Dallas, Texas. When Tuck was asked about what his childhood neighborhood was like he said, "South Dallas is like hell and paradise all rolled into one. On the one hand, you know everyone and everyone knows you, so there is a real sense of community. On the other hand, we have our fair share of pimps, drug dealers, gangsters, shootings and fights." After attending Dallas's Lincoln High School Tuck went to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on a full music scholarship. After graduation he served in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of sergeant. He was handing out compact discs to people on the streets, until one day, in response to his self-promotion, George Lopez, CEO of T-Town music, called him back.
Tuck said he is not rapping about materialistic things and explicit rap as much of the other hip-hop artists. Under the tutelage of T-Town Music CEO's George Lopez and Trinidad Delgado, Big Tuck continued to prepare himself for his major label debut Tha Absolute Truth. "I have a lot to bring to the table as an artist," shares Tuck. "I know how to write, play and compose music. I have been playing the drums my entire life, as well as writing poetry."
His album has guest appearances by Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, and other artists. It's lead single is "Tussle" (the remix as the original version was recorded by the entire DSR group) featuring Tum Tum and Slim Thug. "Mark my words" says Tuck, "I have the realest album of the year". Tha Absolute Truth album peaked at #14 on Top Rap Albums, and #27 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Billboard music charts.[1]
Big Tuck's new single featuring Fat B. of DSR, "Not A Stain On Me", is getting major spins in Texas and in the rest of the southern United States.
