Beovoz (Беовоз) is the suburban/commuter railway network that provides mass-transit service in the city of Belgrade, Serbia, similar to Paris's RER and Toronto's GO Transit. The main usage of today's system is to connect the suburbs with downtown Belgrade. Beovoz is operated by Serbian Railways. In near future,it will be ordered new city trains in total costs of 240 milions Euros.

Belgrade suburban railway system connects suburbs and near by cities to the west, north and south of the city. Line from Nova Pazova on the western side of Belgrade to Mladenovac which is south of the city is over 70km long.

Beovoz handled 6,182,000 passengers in 2006. In 2007 it is projected that the system will handle 7,078,000 passengers.

There are six lines in the Belgrade underground railway network:

Stara Pazova-Belgrade Downtown-Pancevo -Vojlovica
Ripanj-Resnik-Rakovica- Pančevo -Vojlovica
Stara Pazova -Belgrade Downtownca-Resnik-Ripanj
Zemun-Belgrade Downtown-Valjevo
Nova Pazova-Belgrade Downtown-Resnik-Mladenovac
Stara Pazova-Belgrade Downtown-Mala Krsna

Most stations are not underground, though. The four stations that are built underground are located in the city center.

Construction work on a light-rail system in the city is scheduled to commence in 2008 and it would probably last at least seven years [1]. The light rail systems will connect with Beovoz at Vukov Spomenik underground station. The sum approved by the city government for the works on the first line is said to be about $450,000,000. The new line should connect Zemun on the north-west and Konjarnik on the south-east of the city central zone.
