[edit] Pics

Nice iconic pic, Nick. There are a lot at the AWM too, but I can't decide between:

  • OG1418 paratroopers landing
  • 017401 US heavy machine gun team at airfield, with burning Japanese plane in the background
  • 017402 US soldier on walkie talkie with fellow squad members in background

I like 017402 best and think that it would make a great lead image - it seems to capture the essense of this battle. OG1418 is good, but unsuitable for a lead photo as it suggests that this was mainly an airborne attack (rather than a successful amphibious landing which was reinforced - probably unessesarily - by paratroopers). 017401 is also good but isn't suitable as a lead as it suggests that the campaign was hard fought. Can I suggest that you upload these photos to Wikicommons rather than Wikipedia? By the way, I'm planning on starting Battle of Morotai today or tomorrow and call dibbs on it ;-) --Nick Dowling (talk) 22:16, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
