Barrels refer not just to representations of the whiskers in S1, but to all of the dark-staining 'blobs' in S1, so therea are hindlimb barrels, etc.. The most common barrels mentioned are the whisker barrels. So, this article is just inaccurate, but relatively easy to fix.
