[edit] Cokayne

The Complete Peerage begins their account of the family with Patrick de Courcy, the second of this list, attested as a magnate from 1221, and says his parentage is unknown. The peerage may date from c. 1340, or later, and the 1397 patent "has been mistaken by many modern writers" as a confirmation of peerage. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 20:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

So there is uncertainty over this too? 1221, 1223, 1295, 1340's, 1397...? I had not realised there was so much uncertainty in such things. SeoR 11:57, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
