[edit] Tucker

Does anyone actually know why he left in such an abrupt manner in 2005/2006? (can't remember exact year now). - Ta bu shi da yu 06:18, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

He left back in about 1995 - if we're talking the Headmaster Tucker. (Westius 02:28, 29 November 2005 (UTC))

Why hasn't anyone mentions baaahker, does anyone know the truth behind it??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 141.168.59.43 (talk • contribs).

Not sure what is being asked here... - Ta bu shi da yu 14:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Headmaster Tucker resigned as a result of allegedly having an extra-marital affair with another member of staff, a drama teacher as I recall (I was a student at Barker College at the time). However, as this is a piece of unverifiable hearsay, there is little point in including it in the article.

Yes, I was a student at the time he left - he did leave because of an extra marital affair with the mother of a student in my year (she was a drama teacher) - her name was Milne (Lachlan's mother). This is true as we heard it staright from her (and her son) after leaving the school.

[edit] history section

In this diff (can someone tell me how to do that correctly), there seems to be dispute around this issue: It is a HISTORY section. Is wearing uniforms compulsory NOW, or was it during some time in the past?

If uniforms are compulsory NOW, it isn't history.

If they WERE compulsory, then the History item is

Between 19xx and 20yy it was compulsory to wear a uniform

As it stands I agree that the Uniforms issue does not belong in the History section. --Garrie 06:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

uniforms have always been compulsory - so, yes it's not history (nor is it too remarkable) --Danlibbo 08:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] junior school houses

anyone have a list handy? --Danlibbo 08:23, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cadets subsection

perhaps someone who has more recently attended could update it a bit (do they still use Dillon's Farm? stuff abt the ATA/BCAT etc) --Danlibbo 08:54, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Boarding House subsection

New section required re: boarding at Barker. Boarding Houses (check) Carter House, Plume House, Leslie House (current?) Boarding at Barker since inception (?). Co-ed boarding since 1995???. Alxr101 13:27, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Barker Non-Selective?

It says Barker are non-selective. Only approx 30% of boys who try out in year 3 get in! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.1.123 (talk) 00:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

The school doesn't require students to get over a certain mark in an exam in order to be selected for enrolment (as with Sydney Boys High School or Sydney Grammar School for example), therefore it is non-selective. As with most of Sydney's top independent schools, Barker would have more applications than places available and therefore not everyone who applied could be accepted. Preference would be given to those who have been on the waiting list the longest, sons of ex-students and those who are better suited to the nature of the school.
