[edit] mexican?

I only knew the banda-music as italian brass music. Can anyone verify/speak against this? - I will look out myself and post examples if I find them. Thanks. --Sputnik(.de) 10:54, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

-Banda is definitely a very important part of Mexican music. However, it is not only influenced by German polka music as this Wiki article says - it was also heavily influenced by US, French, and other military bands stopping through Mazatlan. This is a good book on the subject: http://www.amazon.com/Banda-Mexican-Musical-Borders-Culture/dp/0819564303/ref=sr_1_3/002-9065093-7061661?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180397571&sr=1-3

Here is a clip of what the music is like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZL5qU5xj68 Jbowen1519 00:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Jim

The italian brass music is called banda-music as well. It is very possible that the name comes form here. I have a film about the subject, but the language is german. The article should be marked as to be proofed. --Sputnik(.de) 01:35, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
