[edit] Description isn't good

This article sound like it's trying to describe the balo, a xylophone used by the Mandinka. However, it's not their primary instrument; the kora would probably take that distinction (though the balo and ngoni are also used). The djembe is also commonly used. As it stands now, Balafon is being used as a catch-all article for all West instruments in the balo family. This could probably redirect there. Badagnani (talk) 04:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

"national instrument" does not mean "primary instrument", but anyway I've removed the claim from this article. I'm neutral on redirecting to balafon (well, I'm opposed, but don't really care). Tuf-Kat (talk) 04:17, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I should correct myself: among the Mandinka of Gambia, Senegal, and Mali the kora is most popular, but the balo is considerably more popular among the Mandinka in Guinea. Badagnani (talk) 04:22, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
