Battlion breakout
Sorry for not responding sooner but I have been pretty busy at work the last few days. As for how to best break out the battalion list? I like the idea of breaking it down by MAGTF element with a few additions. For the ACE, I think we look pretty good. The list of aircraft squadrons and aviation support units are pretty good lists. The aviation support unit page could probably use some prettying up but the info on it is solid. The decommissioned units at the bottom of the page could probably be spun off into their own article because it is a very incomplete list and still needs alot of additions. I would not create one big decommissioned units page as it would be too cumbersome.
We could spin off a List of United States Marine Corps logistics and units list. That would be a cut and paste job for the most part with the addition of an explanation of the Marine Logistics Command, Blount Island Command, MPS and Barstow and Albany and how they interact with the fleet.
Aviation and Logistics are the easy part. It gets a little hairier with the GCE because of terminology. I would propose a List of United States Marine Corps infantry battalions. Again another cut and paste job but SOI, Recon and a few other should be added along with a new intro paragraph.
For all of the others...LAR, CEB, Tanks,Comm etc I would propse a List of United States Marine Corps separate battalions. That is their technical name and it is pretty appropriate and all encompassing. An intro should be included to explain how they fall under the MEF and/or Division and within the MAGTF as warfighting agencies.
These are my initial thoughts. Let me know what you think.--Looper5920 16:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Capitol area pics
Hi Bahamut0013 -- I noted on the NYS wikiproject page that you're interested in Fulton, Montgomery, and Schenectady counties. Me, i'm working with others on List of National Historic Landmarks in New York, which happens to have a few gaps in those counties. Hope you could visit the page, and hit the sort button by county, to see the ones lacking photos. I wonder if you could take any new photos, and/or contribute in any other way to any one of the articles on the sites themselves? Cheers, doncram (talk) 02:37, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Henderson Hall
Hiya Sgt. Bob. Always nice to work with other folks in the MILHIST. I noticed that you added Henderson Hall as a component to the JFHQ, saying that it is the seat of the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command. A couple of nitpicks with this: it is no longer called the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command, it is the Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region. In addition, the MCINCR is most definitely headquartered at Quantico, not Henderson. In all my research of the JFHQ over the past three years, I've never once seen or read that Henderson Hall is an integral part of the JFHQ, much like 8th & I. This is why I've reverted the change to that article as well as the Henderson Hall article. Sorry for this. --ScreaminEagle (talk) 18:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Only a Corporal? Oh, well then, I take back my explanation and apology. (Just kidding.) You're a good, helpful editor and your edits were in good faith. I give good editors like you an explanation for any reverts so y'all don't think I'm a jerk.
- As for the name change, it's very possible you were right about where the HQ is (making me look like an idiot, so thanks a lot). One source, dcmilitary.com, says Quantico is the HQ for it under the new name, which it claims replaced the old name, while Henderson Hall's page says it is the HQ, but with the old name. Other than those two I can't find any other difinitive sources to indicate one way or the other. What do you think? --ScreaminEagle (talk) 21:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Hm. This is becoming irritating. Well, you could always contact JFHQ and ask which version is correct. They have stopped answering my emails because I bugged them too much and now they hate me, but they don't know your name yet! Or we could just call Henderson Hall to get the scoop since they obviously know something we don't. Thoughts? --ScreaminEagle (talk) 16:12, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Global war on terrorism expeditionary ribbon.gif
A tag has been placed on Image:Global war on terrorism expeditionary ribbon.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Iraqi Arabic
Could you please write a stub about Kurów in Iraqi Arabic here – just a few sentences based on http://kurow-wiki.openhosting.pl/wiki/ar:%D9%83%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%81 ? Please.
PS. Article about Kurów is already in 276 languages and dialects. If your village/town/city isn't yet on PL wiki, I can do article about it. (I'm first author of requests and this article have the biggest number of interwikis) Pietras1988 TALK 12:21, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
USMC Portal
What a nice surprise to find that the Article and Image on the USMC portal had been updated by you for March. I've been going it alongalone in maintaining the portal for quite a long time. — ERcheck (talk) 17:06, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Absolutely sincere. I was planning on making an update today, but saw the updates on my watchlist. Although I had some other ideas, what you chose is great. It's always good to have new ideas. Are you interested in helping with regular maintenance? I try to update everything on the first of the month (except the rare months where RL commitments get in the way), with the exception of the news section - which is as something very interesting comes up. — ERcheck (talk) 17:30, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Actually have a coordination page for the portal — kind of like a workshop — where we were planning ahead, sometimes a year in advance. For the the biography, we try to alternate between officers and enlisted; for the article, we try to balance battles (recent/past), biographies, aviation, etc.; for the image, new and older, etc. Also, if there is a particular anniversary some month, try to focus on that; July — try a broader interest/patriotic themed portal; something special for November, etc. — ERcheck (talk) 20:06, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Planning in advance gives a chance to upgrade articles. For March, the biography that I want to feature is Jacob Zeilin, who was the first Marine to be a general — being promoted to brigadier general in March 1867. I'm working on the Zeilin article today. Another biography that I want to feature is Presley O'Bannon, but, that article still needs work &dmash; care to spend some time upgrading it and coming up with a good summary? — ERcheck (talk) 20:11, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- O'Bannon's connection to the "shores of Tripoli" and the Mameluke Sword are the two hooks I would want to put in the biography summary. I thought it would be nice to add this older piece of history to the Portal. But, I think the article needs a little more work before being put on the Portal. [1].
