Bagdad, Kentucky

Bagdad is an unincorporated community in northeastern Shelby County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded at what is currently the intersection of Kentucky Routes 12 and 395.
It is a small town that currently has two general stores and a bank it also has a small park that is a haven for kids in the summer.
Named after Baghdad in Iraq.

Most notably, it is the birthplace of Kentucky's only female governor, Martha Layne Collins. The town was not named after Baghdad, Iraq. It was named from a phrase used by a boy talking to his father at the Old (and still existing) Roller Mills. The roller mills is used for bagging of feed for livestock and such. The boy would say to his father 'Bag Dad' when needing a new bag to fill, the name kept.
