Avonmouth railway station serves the suburb of Avonmouth in Bristol. This is the main terminus of the line; however, a few trains a day continue to St Andrews Road and Severn Beach.
This station is 14 km (9 miles) west from Bristol Temple Meads on the Severn Beach Line. All trains serving it are operated and the station is managed by First Great Western.
In Avonmouth 4 stations in the past have served the suburb. They were Avonmouth, Avonmouth Dock, Avonmouth Docks and Royal Edward. This station was the 2nd one to be built. Now only the Avonmouth Dock station (the former name of this station) and St Andrews Road remains [1]

[edit] Services
There is currently an hourly service eastbound to Bristol Temple Meads, with an hourly train service to Severn Beach in the peaks and on Saturdays. At all other times on weekdays, a bus connection to Severn Beach departs from the front of the station. There is currently no service on Sundays.
From Sunday 18 May 2008 an improved service will be offered on the line[2]. Trains will start earlier in the morning and finish later in the evening, with three trains in every 2-hour cycle during the daytime. In addition to improving the frequency of services this will also increase turnaround time, so the timetable should be more reliable. This will have the unfortunate side-effect of trains not being at the same times past each hour.
Services to Severn Beach will be reduced overall, with only one train every two hours Mondays to Fridays, as opposed to the current service provided by a bus every hour connecting with every train. The bus continues to run on Saturdays to provide one journey per hour to/from Severn Beach. For the first time in recent history, there will be a Sunday service, with hourly departures between 10am and 6pm to and from Bristol Temple Meads, running until September only. There continues to be no Sunday service to Severn Beach.
