Australian-Russian relations are foreign relations between Australia and Russia. The first contact between both countries dates back from 1807, with the arrival of a Russian vessel in Sydney. Consular relations were established in 1857. Diplomatic relations were established in 1942, and the first Australian embassy opened in 1943. Australia has an embassy in Moscow and 2 consulates (in Vladivostok and Saint Petersburg). Russia has an embassy in Canberra and a consulate-general in Sydney. Both countries are members of APEC.
