Austin Police Department (APD) is the principal law enforcement agency serving Austin, Texas. The agency has over 1,400 officers and 500 civilian employees and an annual budget of $155 million. Former California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief Art Acevedo was appointed chief of police in June 2007; he is the eighth chief in the history of APD.
