The Asturians are an ethnic group or nation living in the historical country of the Principality of Asturias, provinces of Leon, Zamora, Santander and Tras os Montes in the north of Spain and Portugal. They have Celtic and Visigothic background and they speak the Asturian language.

  1. ^ According to the Asturias article, 1,076,896 is merely the current population of all residents of Asturias, not the ethnic population. However, significant populations of asturiant descent live in the rest of Spain, or abroad in countries such as Argentina, Chile, etc.
