[edit] BMW M5 engine

Before someone re-adds the M5 reference in the body of this article, please explain why the Ascari website lists the A10 as having a V8 when the M5 has a V10...Stephen Hui 19:06, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

The Ascari A10 was said to have a MODIFIED M5 engine that is why —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Poremm (talkcontribs) 07:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
Please cite sources before re-adding this piece of information.--BSI 19:02, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I found a reference -- an evo article which I linked to in the main article. The A10's engine is based on the KZ1's, which is in turn based on the *previous* generation BMW M5's V8. I don't think we need to add a citation in the article for this, though. Stephen Hui 21:45, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Moot point now, but changing an engine's cylinder count is a major undertaking. It's really a whole new engine at that point, as opposed to a modified version of the original. Stephen Hui 21:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your discussion and research on this point and your right the KZ-1's V8 engine and the KZ-1 kicks butt in [PGR2] Poremm 23:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

There would be no change in the cylinder count since the E46 M5 had/has a V8, and this car has a V8. It's the engine from the previous generation M5 except "modified" which in the least would include new forged internals [1] "5-litre V8 engine" [2]MustangAficionado (talk) 16:51, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New information in evo article

Speaking of that evo article -- there's lots of information in there that should be brought into this article. I'll do it myself eventually if no one else does, but please feel free... Stephen Hui 21:45, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Engine Layout

Think there is a mistake: Ascari A10 is mid-engined like KZ1, not front.

One of it's main rivals, the Dihatsu Materia, however, does have a front engine. The confusion may have arisen there. 82.153.230.138 (talk) 17:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks to the anonymous user for the funniest statement ever made. Chaparral2J (talk) 07:58, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
