Re: about Lee Isaacs

Hi. You need to stop putting identical messages on multiple uninvolved editors' talk pages, and now. See Wikipedia:Canvassing. It's considered good form to go back and remove all those repeated messages, which are generally considered as warmly as spam. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 06:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

To Artsojourner: jpgordon is absolutely correct, but because I had been thinking of discussing this situation with you, I've responded to your message anyway on my talk page. Pinkville 19:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes he is correct--I will see it on the Afd-- but let me take the opportunity to suggest that you might try stronger first sentences: not "Lee Isaacs is an American photographer, living and working in Birmingham, Alabama." but "Lee Issacs is a notable American protographer, known in particular for ..." There are deletionists who don't read beyond the first sentence, and some delete anythingthat does not literally contain the word "notable" in that sentence. DGG 18:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate your comments. Funny how a first sentence seems to set the tone on here. Artsojourner 15:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Pinky Bass AFD

Well I hope I was able to help. I've actually never heard of her or her art. I just browse through the deletion discussions and pick out some articles and try a google test. Depending on the results I can get from google, then, I either recommend deletion or keeping. I figured especially that if the Alabama State Council on the Arts saw fit to put her in a documentary, they know what they're talking about and she must be notable. Let me know if anyone shows up in that deletion discussion and makes strong arguments for deleting the article; I have a lot of experience with WP:AFD and I can argue convincingly from policy. Also, if the article gets deleted anyway, let me know and I will begin the process of having it undeleted. =) Can't guarantee that I'll be successful, but I'm pretty confident about it. Thank you I appreciate that. Artsojourner 22:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I can understand how it can be creepy, but following the principle of good faith, I believe that users shadow others just to help them out and make sure they are contributing in the Wikipedia standard. Either way though, if you feel someone is giving you or a friend trouble, let me know and I might be able to sort it out. Cheers, Andrew647 11:45, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

I'll have a look when I get the moment. I'm in crunch time at university. Andrew647 22:57, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Melissa Galt

A tag has been placed on Melissa Galt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 04:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

We have it fixed now. Many thanks to all who helped. Artsojourner (talk) 13:43, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Melissa--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 05:40, 10 April 2008 (UTC) Galt

I have nominated Melissa Galt, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Melissa Galt. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 15:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't understand the accusations that you make here, especially when compared with your edit history, which has been nearly null in 2008 with the exception of this article. In the 2 weeks since first asking for the notability of this subject to be verified, I have made edits to Media of Philadelphia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, John Calvin‎, Traveling Wilburys, The Killers of Comedy Tour, Brat Pack (movies), Kidd Chris, Pretty in Pink, and The Bay Boy. I made my arguments in the talk page, and they have not been addressed. Also, the comment on my talk page (please note it is a wikipedia user discussion page, not a "home page") makes no sense to me whatsoever. "curdled milk and honey"? Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 17:58, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I understand the content of both of your references, but I don't understand one bit the reason that you bring them up or how they are at all helpful in building an encyclopedia. Pointing out to me what edits I have made over the last few days, or showing me a Bible reference does not change the fact that the subject of the article in question remains of dubious notability. If she's notable, then someone should include the references to reliable, third-party, independent sources within the article. It's as simple as that. Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 21:32, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a friendly note re: your comment on my page, you might want to check out WP:CANVASand to be honest you might even be touching on WP:MEAT with requests like that. I think Ms. Galt meets the notability guidelines but my opinion is just one of many. CredoFromStart talk 15:30, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I think the note you left was helpful and fair; I did indeed look more carefully and changed my comment, though not in the direction you suggested. That's why I'm not worried about what is called canvassing--it does not necessarily bias the result. Sorry to have to disappoint you, you've done as full a job as possible with the article, but it does not add up to notable. I wish you more notable subjects for your skills here. DGG (talk) 23:35, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Agree with DGG, I did check back per your suggestion but still do not feel that the subject is sufficiently notable.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 05:40, 10 April 2008 (UTC)}}
