[edit] Is "Art Wolfe" a pseudonymn?

What's in a name?

A lot of actors use pseudonymns. If you want to become famous or start a successful restaurant, it helps to have an unusual name people will remember. So, I wonder if "Art Wolfe" is this photographer's real name.

I have another reason for questioning the name "Art Wolfe." I shoot nature photography. In the late 1980s, I wanted to create a pseudonymn that sounded artsy and woodsy. The name I came up with was "Art Wolf." Shortly afterward I discovered this name was all ready in use by this famous nature photographer.

So, I am left to wonder if he came up with "Art Wolfe" the same way I came up with "Art Wolf" or if his name really is "Art Wolfe." It seems too much of a coincidence to me that a famous nature photographer would have the name "Art Wolfe." Then again, I would never have thought "Wolfgang Puck" was a real name, but it is.

I wonder if I'm the only one was taken aback when they first heard the famous cook's name. I said to myself surely this is a name someone created to be remembered, and not forgotten. But "no" Wolfgang was adopted by Mr. Puck. I just have to say, it is a good thing Wolfgang was not adopted by Peter Bang of "Bang & Olufsen" fame (Peter Bang, Svend Olufsen).

Image:ArtWolfeStamp.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template.
