Artur Beterbiev (b. January 21, 1985) is a Russian amateur boxer best known to win silver at the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships at light heavyweight.
[edit] Career
The aggressive puncher Beterbiyev won the 2006 European Amateur Boxing Championships among others beating Irishman Kenneth Egan and Ismail Sillakh. He lost to two-time world champion and elusive southpaw Evgeny Makarenko in 2006 but finally beat him in 2007 and qualified for the World championships. In the finals he faced little-known Uzbek southpaw Abbos Atoev but was upset.
