North American Area code 858 is located in San Diego County, California and covers the inner northern suburbs of the City of San Diego, California and the northern half of the city itself, thus including the areas of Del Mar, Poway, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Clairemont, Miramar MCAS, and most of the northern half of the city of San Diego. Split from the 619 area code in 1999.

The outer northern suburbs of San Diego and the mountainous areas to the east (such as Ramona, Santa Ysabel, Warner Springs and Julian) are serviced by area code 760, which itself was a result of an earlier split of area code 619.
