Area code 234 is a North American telephone area code serving part of Northeast Ohio, United States. It covers the Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Warren areas. It overlays Area code 330 (which preceded it), so 10-digit dialing is mandatory.
Area code 234 was originally part of Area code 216, one of the original North American Numbering Plan codes.
Area code 234 was planned to become the area code for the Jacksonville, Florida area, but local businesses and the FCC split the existing area code, 904, into area codes 850 and 386[1].
