[edit] Numerous errors in the medieval part of this list

No sources are given for this list. Unfortunately, it contains a large number of errors. Here are some of them:

  • Dáuíd Mac Guaire (d. 552), in this list simply called David, is not Saint David from Wales (d. 587).
  • Affiath is missing (d. 794, see U794.1 in the Annals of Ulster).
  • Maelpadraig Mac Finnchu is missing (d. 863, see CS863 in Chronicon Scotorum and M861.2 in the Annals of the Four Masters).
  • Mochta is missing (d. 893, see U893.1, CS893, and AI893.1 in the Annals of Inisfallen).
  • Mael Aichen is missing (d. 894, see CS894).
  • ... and many more are missing.
  • Numerous coarbs are included in this list who were never in their life priests nor bishops (like Domnall who died 1105, for example).
  • A number of names are neither in their original Irish form (nor Latin), take Murrough for example, correct would be Muirchertach; but don't worry about him as he was never a priest nor a bishop

You will find a reasonable list in the corresponding page of the German language edition of the Wikipedia including a number of sources. Feel free to contact me in case of questions.

I took a quick look at the German list de:Liste der Erzbischöfe von Armagh. Unlike here in English Wikipedia, they have an extensive list of references (thanks to AFBorchert). It would be take some time and money to order all the references from the library and check them for this article. Would it be reasonable just to copy the whole article here (translating if necessary), or would that be a self-reference (as in Wikipedia:Reliable sources) ? --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 09:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
p.s. Note to whoever reviews AFBorchert's list of errors - when finished could you copy or merge your work with List of Church of Ireland Archbishops of Armagh as they are partly the same list. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 13:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I changed the list using proper sources. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 15:01, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
