[edit] Enclosure

I'm curious to know what it means that the order had an order of "enclosure" that was not lifted until the 1900s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.103.172.9 (talkcontribs) 11:05, 19 July 2007

Please sign talk page comments. What I gathered from researching this article is that the "papal order of enclosure" ensured that the order would not exercise an apostolic role, but rather a teaching or meditative role. Even so, I'm not sure exactly what the "enclosure" entailed, whether it was a common mandate, etc., etc. Alekjds talk 22:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
