[edit] The Beatles
I think sidestepping the British/English controversy by omitting the adjective and simply stating that they were "a rock and pop band from Liverpool, England" is a compromise option deserving of its own heading in the poll. Would you mind if I moved your vote to the new subheading? Robert K S (talk) 21:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with the statement that they were "a rock and pop band from Liverpool, England", as it is true.--andreasegde (talk) 21:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

- But what I'm saying is that this choice is really not a vote for describing them as "an English rock band" and I would like your permission to create a third category and to move your vote to that category. Robert K S (talk) 22:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A Hard Day's Night (film)
Hey, Andreasedge. I know you're a prominent editor at Wikiproject: The Beatles. I have some things I want to talk about.
Firstly, my name doesn't appear on the Wikiproject: The Beatles contributors list. (My name is Kodster. I added the template to my userpage. Please respond at my talk page.
Second. Concerning the "A Hard Day's Night (film)" article. I added references from Rotten Tomatoes, Time Magazine, and other websites. Perhaps this article could be a Good Article. I'm not sure. Being at Wikipedia for only three days, I'm nowhere near an Administrator, though I've read all of the manuals and guidelines. So, just reassess it if you can, and talk to me. Thanks.
You're a great guy here at Wikipedia. We need more people like you. (I've seen your Barnstars). So again, just reassess the article if you have the time, and see what you can do about my name on the contributor list. Because I've been contributing a lot. Thanks! Kodster (talk) 19:22, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] That's Right, Keep Mum Edge!
What's that supposed to mean? Keep Mum! indeed!
Yes, the balloons are out and the scent of champagne is in the air!
I am not certain as to whether I'm talking to Vera, Chuck and Dave [who seems to be answer Andreaedge's comments for her (or him, I am seriously not sure which! Sorry!)]. Thanks for the help! I realized that I could just add my name, and I did so!...And it got pushed to the bottom of the list! But lo, there always has to be a bottom, no?
Anyway, thank you for all your help!
Excuse me for the length of this post. Now could you please respond about my changes to A Hard Day's Night? I would like to know whether these changes will suffice to make this article Good. Thanks!
And Vera (and Chuck, and Dave!)? Please respond as to what Keep mum really meant! :(
Thanks! It's the Kodster! (talk) 00:40, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- The references on Hard Day's Night need to be properly formatted. Look at Linda McCartney's page as an example.--andreasegde (talk) 12:16, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sixstring?
Who is Sixstring? When I am done posting, I will proceed to look at his user page. I am not an old Wikipedian editor. I just started on Monday, though out of interest (I have always used Wikipedia in daily life), I have read the manuals and have known thoroughly how to edit Wikipedia. When I got a free moment in my hands, I created a user. I'm sorry for any trouble I've caused you, or Vera, Chuck and Dave, or anybody. As Lar said, I handled the situation by removing the comment after being asked to do so once. I'm sorry for any trouble I've caused. Could you please respond to what I said earlier? Thanks, and again sorry for my inappropriate comment. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 22:57, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A Hard Day's Night (film)
Could you please clarify as to what "properly formatted" means? Are you referring to the actual citation in the "References" section? Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 22:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Serious, serious question
As you most likely know, addressing a person properly is important. And as such, I have a serious question that I would like to be answered. In light of other comments that I have made, I find it necessary to add this reassurance to my post that this is a serious question that requires an answer.
Are you a boy or a girl?
While your name is Andrea, which I would assume is a girl's name, look here for your signature, "He's off again..." (It's the first comment under that section which is not indented whatsoever. Please, if you are willing to talk to me again after my inappropriate behavior, answer my question.
Again, I assure you that this is not a joke or intended to be inappropriate. I've learned my lesson, that being inappropriate can make me lose acquaintances here at Wikipedia, while what I really need is the support and guidance of those more experienced than me. (Jimbo Wales would be an example, as are you and Vera, Chuck and Dave). So please, pardon my French but, répondez-vous, s'il vous plait. (I speak enough French to get by, as well as Latin. I am learning Spanish and German currently).
Thanks. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 23:24, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sixstrings
I've finally located this "Sixstrings" character. I am appalled that you would relate me to him. So I firmly and respectfully say to you, I am not a sockpuppet of Mister Ricochet. (I know of Mister Ricochet by examining his page, not because I am him). I am a new user, and I expect no other misunderstandings. Please see my contributions for what I have contributed to Wikipedia. Thank you.
Again, please respond to my earlier posts!!! Thank you.
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 00:05, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kodster
I see. Andreasedge, I know where you are coming from. I have looked at Sixstring1965's comments on John Lennon (I would have appreciated that you added the '1965' so I could look him up) and what he has done. I understand your concerns. But I am not this character. And if I "sound" like a well-seasoned editor (as sixstring may be, I am not sure), this is because I am well-read, intellectual, and possess a thirst for knowledge.
Also, the reason I posted on "high-profile" articles (such as the Beatles articles) is because I love Beatles music, and I would love to inform the public on how influential and great these people were.
Also, about being so-called "pushy." Well, my college professor always said, "Take no nonsense from anybody." I have been brought up to explain, and perhaps support my opinion to the extent where I sound "pushy." I have read Sixstring's comments, and they are rather "pushy." I am genuinely sorry if I am "pushy." I have just been trained to back myself up any way I can.
Also, did Sixstring have a problem with references, too? I read most articles, so I know how to actually edit, but I am not sure as to how to cite. Of course, I never really edited back then, so I never bothered in reading citing sources and the like. Could you please clarify as to what how I should format? I read the guidelines, but I am not quite sure on exactly what you mean (I thought I was following the guidelines correctly).
I am confused as to why suddenly, by putting one sexually inappropriate statement (which I really am sorry for), you pin me to a disturbing character? I beg to ask you, besides that, what else have I done seriously wrong? I may sound pushy now, but I am seriously genuinely confused.
Could you please respond as to what "low profile" really means? Do you mean non-Beatles articles? I just don't understand. (Update: I had misread what you wrote in my page. I had thought that you said that I the Kodster should stick with low-profile articles, being a new user. A misunderstanding, I'm sorry. Please disregard this. Thank you for wishing me the best.) Honestly, I would take that ungentlemanly comment back if I could. I really would. I just had a stupid moment. And if that happens again, you have ever right to block or ban me. You'll even have the right to sockpuppet me to Sixstring, or Mister Ricochet, or Jimbo Wales for all I know. I know that I am not anyone else, but you do not. And I can't prove it to you (though my IP address is different from his). But I implore you to give me the benefit of the doubt. If it happens again, do whatever you find necessary. Have a good day.
Thanks.
P.S. I had just finished reading your response to stop leaving posts on your talk page. I am really sorry, I just am confused. Please respond to my questions with clear, definite answers instead of saying that I am somebody else. Could you please just tell me what I did wrong with A Hard Day's Night? Thanks. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 20:45, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disgusted
I have seen Sixstring's userpage history. I am, frankly, disgusted by that. The nerve of somebody to actually put raw vaginal pictures on their userpage for anyone to see. NOW I understand why you connect me to him. Oh my Lord, I had always regretted it, but now seeming so close to being a sock puppet. Oh my... I just want to go back in time and stop myself from putting that comment. I am really sorry, and I just want to say (without being pushy) that I am glad to have no relation to Sixstring1965 or Mister Ricochet, or any other user. Thanks. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 21:26, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'll give you a chance. Don't forget that being logged-in, everything is recorded. I think of the English phrase, "Don't sh*t on your own doorstep".
- I will put some examples of references on your talk page. You will only be able to see them if you click on 'edit'. --andreasegde (talk) 11:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] References
Thanks for the referencing tips. I will be sure on using them.
(Also, if I'm not mistaken, by using the "Ignore Wiki Formatting" button, which is the letter W with an slash in a circle next to the bold button, the text will not change to the actual formatting. I believe that is what they use on Wikipedia guideline pages when trying to show how to format.)
Thanks for forgiving me for my comment. It won't happen again.
Have a great day! Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 20:38, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have never used that "Ignore Wiki Formatting" button, and I'm not sure what it is. Maybe you could tell me, Kodster? We learn something new every day... :) --andreasegde (talk) 20:47, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- Right above the box where you edit the page, there is a row of buttons. B for Bold, I for Italics, etc. The ninth button from the left (with a crossed out W) is "Ignore Wiki Formatting". It, as it says, ignores the usual wiki formatting, with the result being exactly what you typed, not the formatted result. For example, if I type: [[A Hard Day's Night (film)|A Hard Day's Night]], I get A Hard Day's Night. A hyperlink that is formatted. But if I press the "Ignore Wiki Formatting" button and type that, it will show [[A Hard Day's Night (film)|A Hard Day's Night]] exactly as I typed it. It is very useful for guideline pages or when giving help on how to format something on Wikipedia (like references). I just thought that might be useful for you to know, being so helpful. :)

[edit] Question
I hope you won't be offended by my question.
Are you Indian? I see on your user page that you have (if I'm not mistaken) curry, rice, and some sort of masala, I believe. Are you of Indian descent? I am just curious because I myself am of Indian descent, though I was born here and have never stayed in India for longer than three weeks. Just curious.
Have a great day! Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 21:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm English, and I love curries. Boiled/roasted/chipped/mashed potatoes and fish and chips are also wonderful.--andreasegde (talk) 22:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I love curries as well. Mashed potatoes is absolutely wonderful! :) Where in England are you from? I have some family there, and I plan to visit there sometime in the future. Are you from Liverpool, as Vera, Chuck and Dave is? Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 22:16, 27 February 2008 (UTC) P.S. Hope you found that "Ignore Wiki formatting" helpful!
[edit] Origins
I come from Cleckhuddersfax, which is a small place near Bubberistwith. It's a place where the ducks fly backwards. (This is true, BTW). --andreasegde (talk) 05:47, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
It's also a place where people play the traditional English games of "Pulling yer Plonker", "Taking the Mick", the "Porky Pies Competition", and "Havin' it up Yer" (the last involves groups of less than 10 team players). The winners are rewarded with a trip to Coventry, and a free Pass to all the local libraries for the ensuing year. The games (now known as the "I'll Go t'Foot of our Stairs" tournament) take place annually on the local village green, where competitors finally end the tournament by trying to remember an insult from previous decades that could possibly result in a boxing match (the loser being forced to buy a round of drinks for everyone). It's a great place to raise your kids (bless the little monsters, we love 'em). --andreasegde (talk) 13:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting. It really does sound like a great place. By the way, is Cleckhuddersfax a band? I've heard of a band with that name. -- Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 20:20, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- Yeah, they're great, they took their name from where we all live. In truth, they're not bad, even though the drummer (Stumpy) has a wooden leg. The guitarist can only play three chords, but that never stopped Status Quo, did it? On the first Monday of every month they play at the "Rumpy-Pumpy" pub by the bingo hall. First prize in the bingo last week was won by our (first-ever) Lady Mayor, Nora Batty, who is well known as being very fond of bicycles, as that was her nickname when she was younger.--andreasegde (talk) 20:35, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Get Back
No letting it be, A. Where he belongs is not Not In Wikipedia - not until he does it the right way. I know you are all about the live and let live thing, and that's groovy, but I ask you again to remember that every time one of his socks is uncovered, all of his edit contributions are rollbacked - removed as if they had never happened. As this creates a clusterfuck for all the other contributions that surrounded it, I would suggest that if you see one, report it and get the sock gone before substantive damage is done. I would also point out that the sock-farmer knows this and simply doesn't care about the deleterious of his edit removals are. He just thinks we won't catch him. It's all about him, and were this the street, his attitude would have him scrambling all over the street picking up his teeth like chicklets. All we can do here is block him until a community ban can be affected. It's a shame that he couldn't petition to do things the right way, bc were he to make the tiniest effort to not be an ass, I am pretty sure he would get along fine.
In short, there is no way in the world I will let a sock-puppet from a chump like Six go if discovered. And they are always discovered. If you are okay with the edits - once discovered getting rolled back, then let a likely sock go by. Every contribution he makes to the article as a sock is damaging to the article. I hope you can see that. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 23:33, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Rain"
I noticed on the talk page of "Rain" (the single released by the Beatles) that you made some suggestions. As best as I could, I tried to correct the article. Just wanted you to check out how it looks like. That's all. Hopefully "Rain" can be a good or even featured article.

- BTW, notice the "Cover versions" section. I did it by decade as you suggested. Is that an okay way to keep it? Feel free to comment. Thanks! Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 00:16, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- I've left notes on the talk page. I don't have time to do more, because I've got to wait for my next door neigbours pigeons to arrive back from Belgium. --andreasegde (talk) 12:04, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- HELP! I try to edit the page, but it isn't working. I was fixing the references section (which had some syntax errors), and after doing so, I find that the text in "edit this page" and the text in the article are inconsistent, even after editing it! I don't know what to do! I purged the cache, but it didn't work. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 17:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I fixed it. (I sometimes start answers on the left, like now, because my eyes - like reading a book - always go to the left.) The pigeons are all in, BTW. Some of them flew in back-ards (backwards). --andreasegde (talk) 17:58, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, thanks. It was just a reference error on my part. I'm cleaning up the article as you said. Unless you want to do it? Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 18:00, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have done a bit, but it's mostly up to you. Go for the first GA by someone other than me (sad, but true) since The Beatles got theirs. You could do #26, so the ball is in your court. I will look at it before you nominate it, and help out.--andreasegde (talk) 18:04, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- If you get it to GA, I'll give you a really nice Barnstar (honest).--andreasegde (talk) 18:18, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks. :) Thanks for the help on the article too ("Be dry and concise"). So I'm assuming that my other edits are in order? Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kodster! (talk) 19:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
