Custard cream

The custard cream is a popular biscuit in the United Kingdom. Its structure is that of a biscuit sandwich with a cream centre. Custard creams are usually of a yellowish colour. Contrary to its name, it does not taste like custard; it often tastes of vanilla. They also often have an elaborate baroque design stamped onto them. Some British supermarkets do variations on the custard cream. Examples include lemon, orange, coffee and coconut.

Like the American Hydrox or Oreo, the custard cream is often eaten by twisting the two biscuits apart and eating the centre first.

The gypsy cream is identical in construction but with a chocolate flavoured biscuit and cream. The bourbon biscuit is distinguished from the gypsy cream by being longer, and with a more brittle biscuit.
