[edit] Merge with Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line

The Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line of the Kuala Lumpur rail transit network are previously known as the STAR Line. The two lines share a common ticketing and operating system, trains and tracks between the Sentul Timur Station and Chan Sow Lin Station. Besides, a significant part of the two articles are exact copies of each other. For the article Kuala Lumpur Star Light Rail Transit, it is the former name of the two LRT lines, and should be merged with the two article as well. I propose that the three articles (Ampang Line, Sri Petaling Line and Kuala Lumpur Star Light Rail Transit) should be merged into one article titled Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line. --Joshua Chiew 03:34, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Opposed - They are of different entity. Star was part of Ampang and Sri Petaling lines. Now both lines are being noted separately.
I think that you might have misunderstood something. When Rapid KL took over the LRT system, STAR LRT was renamed to Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line for the two branches of the system.--Joshua Chiew 03:39, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
What I was meant to say is, this is Rapid KL and government's effort for a simpler naming system. Thus it rebrands Star LRT into Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line so that to combine it with Kelana Jaya Line. It is true they is part of the same system, but we should value its separation. if we merge both articles, we have to modify many stuff and it will be messy. We have to modify the link in Rapid KL rail section and also in Public transport page. In the template on both pages, don't they look better in a separate form rather then in a combined forms?
We also have to modify the infobox to include "Number of Line" and we have to modify the alignment as well. It will be all so messy.
KTM Komuter also have a separate Rawang-Seremban Line and Sentul-Port Klang Line despite also having KTM Komuter article. They use the same ticketing, service, and also share some lines. Do we need to merge these as well? They are perfect in separate articles. So do Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines.
Airlines pages for example, will usually left their old name/defunct name under a separate article so that it will be an article about its history. For example Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines and their old name as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. We should treat this similarly. Just point both of Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines page to Kuala Lumpur Star Light Rail Transit in their history section. --Zack2007 04:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
You've got your point, but as the a part of Ampang and Sri Petaling lines articles are exact copies of each other, any updates concerning the "common part" must be update in both articles. As for the links, I think that redirects are good enough to do the jobs.--Joshua Chiew 05:21, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Hence you agree to oppose the merger? Yes, that is true, and I guess the updates has to be put for both pages. However, the stuff unique for one line will be the one that differ. Remember the offshooting of train event? The Ampang Line train was involved, not the Sri Petaling Line train. Zack2007 11:33, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

As far as the discussion is concerned, I am going to close it and leave it as a status quo. So No Merge

[edit] Parking Lots, not free anymore (in most places)

I didn't really keep note of this, but if I am not mistaken, most of the parking lots available in most Ampang Line and the Sri Petaling line Star LRT stations do charge a fee. Possibly RM2.00 per entry a day. This is because there's a company which has taken over the free parking lots. Sorry if I couldn't state the details further, but this is currently happening. I did see the parking lots at Cempaka and Pandan Indah where a fee is needed to park their cars inside the station. Please take note. Thank you. Darrencomp (talk) 15:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
