Amar (English translation: "To Love") was the Portuguese entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, performed in Portuguese and English by 2B, this was the first time that the Portuguese entry was recorded with a significant portion of the lyrics in a language other than Portuguese.
The song is an up-tempo number, with the duo singing about the great power that love has.
As Portugal had not qualified for the final in the 2004 Contest, the song was performed in the semi-final. Here, it was performed third (following Moldova's Zdob şi Zdub with Boonika Bate Doba and preceding Laura & The Lovers with Little by Little). At the close of voting, it had received 51 points, placing 17th and failing to qualify for the final, a result which meant that Portugal would have to compete in the semi-final at their next Contest appearance.
The song was succeeded as Portuguese representative at the 2006 Contest by Nonstop with Coisas De Nada (Gonna Make You Dance)
