Alveda King

Dr. Alveda C. King is an American politician, author, and activist. She is a niece of the civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr.. She is currently a Senior Fellow at the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, a conservative "think-tank" in Washington, D.C. She is a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives and the founder of King for America.

King has an M.A. in business management from Central Michigan University. She received her doctorate from Saint Anselm College.

King is a prominent pro-life speaker and often speaks on college campuses about pro-life issues. She spoke at the Democrats for Life of America's annual pre-March For Life breakfast in 2006. She has had two abortions that she speaks about - one performed without her consent and another later by choice.
She is also known for sparring with Martin Luther King, Jr's wife, Coretta Scott King, on the issue of same-sex marriage. She endorsed Senator Sam Brownback for the 2008 Republican nomination [1]. She was a featured speaker at the 2008 March for Life with Silent No More Awareness, where she told of her personal experience with abortion.

The mother of six, and a grandmother, she is the niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr..
One year after her famous uncle was murdered, her father, A.D. King, died unexpectedly. Some believe he may have been murdered, though the details surrounding his death are not well known.[1]
