"Alive" is the other part of the double A-side along with "I'm Gonna Be Alright" (Track Masters Remix), the second and final single from Jennifer Lopez's remix album, J to tha L-O!: The Remixes, even though the original version is a slow ballad. Released in 2002, the single failed to chart in the U.S., becoming Lopez's second single to do so after "No Me Ames" (1999). However, it peaked at number one on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart and became another Hot Dance Club Play hit for her. The music video was directed by Jim Gable.

[edit] Song information
The song was written by Lopez, her then-husband, Cris Judd, and Cory Rooney (which also produced the track). "Alive" was written to the soundtrack to Lopez's film Enough (although it was not included on the soundtrack album). Following the themes of the film, the song is about the struggles of battered women, who are able to overcome their abusive husbands to make it out alive. To explain the message of the song, Lopez sings, "The strength to stand alone... The power of not knowing and letting go... I guess I've found my way it's simple when it's right... Feeling lucky just to be here tonight... And happy just be me and be alive". The song has become an anthem for battered women across the country and several women have written to Lopez about how that song has affected them. On an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, a woman even came up to Lopez and explained how that song kept her going even after the abuses she endured.
Although the single performed reasonably well in certain U.S. charts, it was considered a flop for never charting on the Billboard Hot 100 singles, and was never released internationally.
